GENESEO, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's lacrosse team was unable to build off of its first win of the season from just three days prior, as the Soaring Eagles were dispatched, 22-2, by the Knights of SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon.
The host Knights recorded the first nine goals of the game and kept EC off of the board during the opening period, building a lead they would never relinquish. Ryan Kelly and Nick Jonasse kicked off the monumental run with back-to-back goals just 11 seconds apart early in the first quarter.
Senior attacker
Wyatt Katsos '17 halted Elmira's scoring drought with a man-up goal in the second quarter. Following an illegal equipment penalty on Geneseo's Mark Purcell, Katsos received a feed from
Jacob Magnoli '18 and buried it past goaltender Michael Yehl for the score, making it 9-1 in favor of the Knights with 6:40 to play in the opening half. After
David Keisler '20 won the opening faceoff in the third quarter, Elmira received another goal, this time from
Nevin Olney '18. The unassisted tally cut the deficit to nine at 11-2.
From there, however, the Knights doubled their scoring output to reach the final score.

The Knights, who improved to 5-2 on the season, simply overwhelmed the Soaring Eagles. Geneseo practically tripled EC in shots on goal, 35-to-13, and in ground balls, 47-to-16, while winning more faceoffs and committing less turnovers.
