Women's Soccer Closes Vassar College Invitational With Loss to Brewers

The Elmira College women's soccer team capped off the Vassar College Invitational on Sunday afternoon with an 8-0 loss to the host Brewers at Gordon Field in Poughkeepsie, New York.

The Brewers finished the non-conference contest with a sizable advantage in shots, as they recorded a total of 43 shots and 23 attempts on goal. They consistently tested EC goalkeepers Rachel Grampp '18 and Ali DeSalvatore '20, who split the contest and played one half apiece. Grampp, who leads the Empire 8 Conference with 10.25 saves per game, earned her fourth consecutive start between the pipes this season and registered seven stops. DeSalvatore made eight saves in her first appearance of the year off of the bench.

Jordyn Rousselle '18 posted the only shot on goal for the Soaring Eagles in the 12th minute, which was denied by Vassar goalie Fiona Walsh.

Six different players scored a goal for the Brewers, led by Amanda McFarland and Hannah Daley with two apiece. Ashley Ferry led all players with six points on the afternoon with one goal and four assists.
