ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's soccer team hits the road this Wednesday, September 13, as the Soaring Eagles travel to Rochester, New York, to face the Tigers of RIT. The non-conference bout is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

LAST TIME OUT
The Soaring Eagles played arguably their two toughest opponents of the season last weekend with non-league matches against Ithaca College and 13th-ranked SUNY Cortland. Elmira fell on the road to Ithaca – the first meeting at Carp Wood Field since the 2015 Empire 8 Championships – by a 2-0 final score, before dropping a 3-0 decision at home to the nationally-ranked Red Dragons. Rookie Anthony Lipp '21 got the start against the Bombers of Ithaca and turned away four shots. Jacob Liese '20 came in for relief duty and logged three saves, which was followed by a career-high 10-save performance by the second-year keeper against Cortland.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
RIT heads into Wednesday's matchup with a 1-2-0 overall record, after securing its first win of the season on September 7 against Keuka College, 6-1. The Tigers opened the 2017 campaign with back-to-back home matches that ended in losses to Brockport and No. 8-ranked Rutgers-Newark. Junior captain Anthony DeFeo paces the Tigers' offense with a team-leading six points on a trio of goals. DeFeo scored in the opener against Brockport and tacked on two additional tallies in the victory over Keuka. Gene Sicoli is second on the squad in points (4), after logging four assists in his only appearance of the season against the Wolves. Peter Cinibulk has backstopped the RIT defense with three starts as the team's goalkeeper. Cinibulk has amassed 11 saves in 234:16 of action for a 1.54 goals-against average.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Wednesday's contest will serve as the 18th all-time meeting between the two former conference rivals – RIT was a full-time member of the Empire 8 until it departed to join the Liberty League for the 2011-12 season. The Tigers hold an 11-3-3 lead in the series and have never lost on their home turf. Last year's contest ended in a 0-0 double-overtime tie, while EC's last win in the series dates back to the 2010 season.

LOOKING AHEAD
Elmira returns to the friendly confines of Campus Field next Saturday, September 16, as the Soaring Eagles host the Highlanders of Houghton College. EC's Empire 8 Conference opener is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
