ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's soccer team resumes its non-conference schedule this evening at Campus Field with a 4:00 p.m. clash against the Golden Eagles of the College at Brockport.

LAST TIME OUT
Elmira suffered a 1-0 setback in its Empire 8 Conference opener last time out to Houghton College. The Highlanders utilized an 18-8 advantage in shots, as well as a 3-1 lead in corner kicks, to create multiple scoring chances throughout the contest. Elmira's defense did a good job in the opening half of limiting Houghton's chances, but the Highlanders' Ben Lawrence found the game-winning goal in the 61st minute of the second half to hand the Soaring Eagles a one-goal conference-opening loss. Jacob Liese '20, made seven saves in 90 minutes of action.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Brockport enters Monday's contest with a 3-2-1 overall record and will be looking to snap a two-game winless streak, that after dropping a 3-2 decision last time out to St. John Fisher College and drawing with Ithaca College, 0-0. Brockport and Elmira have three common opponents thus far into the season in RIT, Medaille and Ithaca. The Golden Eagles have gone 1-1-1 against those teams, while Elmira's record stands at 0-3-0. Quintin Volpe leads the Brockport offense with eight points on four goals, just one tally shy of his career-high mark of five (2016). Volpe's four goals have been registered in three games, all of which have resulted in wins for the Golden Eagles. Jason Hayes is not far behind Volpe's pace, as the second-year midfielder sports a four-point total on one goal and a team-high two assists. Joseph Romano has started in goal in each of Brockport's six contests. Romano has racked up 24 saves in those games and boasts a 1.45 GAA.

SERIES HISTORY
Elmira and Brockport will meet for the 11th time this afternoon. The Soaring Eagles own a 6-4-0 lead in the all-time series. The last time these two teams met was during the 2005 season, when Brockport claimed a 4-0 win at Campus Field. However, games in this series played on Elmira's home field have been evenly split between the two sides, with each squad winning three games.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following today's contest, Elmira resumes its Empire 8 schedule on Saturday, September 23, with showdown against the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College. The E8 bout is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Rochester, New York. Elmira's next home contest is scheduled for Saturday, September 30, when the Purple and Gold host the Saxons of Alfred University in a 1:00 p.m. conference clash.
