ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Elmira College women's volleyball will look to extend its season-long four-match win streak when it challenges the Red Dragons of SUNY Cortland on Tuesday, September 19. The non-league contest is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Whitney T. Corey Gymnasium in Cortland, New York.

FOUR AND COUNTING
The Soaring Eagles enter Tuesday's bout riding a season-long four-match win streak, after going a perfect 4-0 at the Oswego State Invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 15-16. Junior outside hitter Natalie Schieder '19 shined brightest at the event, as her 4.57 kills and 2.64 digs per set were enough to earn her tournament MVP honors. Schieder's classmate Taylor Kaznowski '19 played exceptionally well and was also named to the All-Tournament team. The setter from Hamburg, New York, finished the invite with a team-high 86 assists in addition to posting a career-high 20 digs in EC's thrilling five-set victory over the host Lakers in the final match of the event. With those four straight wins, Elmira's record has improved to an impressive 7-2.

SCOUTING SUNY CORTLAND
After dropping four out of their last five contests, the Red Dragons come into Tuesday's match with a 4-6 overall record. Cortland's most recent result was a five-set loss to a then undefeated University of Scranton on Wednesday, September 13, at the Whitney T. Corey Gymnasium. Sophomore setter Gabby Amelio has been the key spark to the Red Dragons' offense, as she leads the team in assists (208) and service aces (23), a mark that also paces the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). The main recipient of her noteworthy passing has been the duo of Nicole Silberer and Courtney Silberer. The sisters from Centereach, New York, rank first and second on the team in kills with 74 and 73, respectively. On the defensive side of the court, libero Alexandra Graff has tallied team-best 133 digs (4.93/set) through the team's first 10 matches.

SERIES HISTORY
The all-time series between these two programs dates back to the 1985 season and has included 20 matches. To date, the Red Dragons hold a 16-4 advantage over their aerial opponents. The most recent contest in the series was a 3-1 Cortland victory on October 14, 2016. EC's last triumph over the Red Dragons came the year prior, as it bested its non-conference foe by a 3-1 final score at Speidel Gymnasium on October 17, 2015.

LOOKING AHEAD
Elmira kicks off Empire 8 Conference play on Friday, September 22, with a bout against the Stevens Institute of Technology. The league contest is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Speidel Gymnasium. Following Friday's competition, EC will host an E8 Tri-Match on Saturday. The Soaring Eagles kick off the event with an 11:00 a.m. showdown against Hartwick College before challenge Nazareth College at 4:00 p.m. at Speidel Gymnasium.
