Women’s Soccer Falls in Empire 8 Action to Hartwick

The Elmira College women's soccer team fell on the road this evening to Hartwick College, 4-0, in Empire 8 Conference action at Elmore Field in Oneonta, New York. EC's starting netminder, Rachel Grampp '18, made nine saves in tonight's contest, eight of which were registered in the second half.
 
Hartwick outshot the Soaring Eagles, 25-2, including a 13-1 lead in shots on goal, and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. Elmira's defense did a solid job in the opening 45 minutes to slow down the Hartwick offense, as EC limited the Hawks to just five first-half shots.
 
Rachel Pine and Casey Boucher registered goals for the Hawks in the first half, sending the home team into the halftime break with a 2-0 lead. Pine's strike came in the 25th minute, while Boucher tallied hers in the 43rd minute. Rachel Weir and Maggie Rogers were credited with assists on the first-half goals.
 
Hartwick padded its lead in the second half with a pair of goals in the 74th and 82nd minutes on goals from Ashley Connolly and Weir. Boucher and Tanner Reed recorded assists on the insurance goals.
 
Grampp made five of her nine saves in a 4:15 span early in the second half. The nine saves is Grampp's fourth-highest single-game total of the season and her highest save total in Elmira's last three games.
