ELMIRA, N.Y. --
The Elmira College men's basketball team was unable to overcome a double-digit first-half deficit, as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 101-72 decision on their home hardwood at Speidel Gymnasium to visiting Hartwick College on Thursday evening.

Elmira stayed within seven points of the Hawks through the first seven minutes of regulation, but a 17-7 run by Hartwick put the visitors out in front comfortably by 17 points, 32-15, with 6:09 on the clock. Hartwick's lead ballooned to 21 points in the first half, before the Hawks marched into the halftime break with a 48-30 advantage.

Second-year swingman Jesse Adelson '20 opened the second half with a layup, which trimmed Hartwick's lead to 16 points, 48-32. However, this was as close as the Soaring Eagles would get, as the Hawks eventually built their lead as large as 31 points before exiting the gymnasium with a 101-72 victory.

Alex Ischiropoulos '20 led the Purple and Gold with a team-high 16 points, 12 of which came from 3-point range, in addition to two boards and an assist. Ischiropoulos was one of three EC players with double figures tonight, as classmates Justin Porrett '19 and Henry Cuffee '19 chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Cuffee concluded the night with a double-double thanks to an 11-rebound effort, five of which came on the offensive glass. Porrett added eight rebounds, six dimes and a game-high three steals.

Nearly every player on the Elmira roster made an appearance this evening, including rookie guard Andrew Ryan '21, who produced a season-high six points in eight minutes of action. Four of his six points came from the charity stripe. Another notable performance came from Joseph Amoddio '21, who scored six points and pulled down a season-high five rebounds off of the bench.
