HOBOKEN, N.J. --
The No. 23 nationally-ranked Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology defeated the Elmira College women's lacrosse team in a midweek Empire 8 Conference contest by a final score of 19-2 on Wednesday at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.

The host Ducks scored the first 15 goals of the game, 13 of which came in the first half, to take a commanding lead that EC was unable to match. The offensive outburst was almost single-handedly sparked by senior Julianna Ricci, who netted five of the first nine goals and finished with a career-high eight in the contest.

Although the Soaring Eagles were held scoreless in the first half, Rachel Grampp '18 and Sarah Hughson '18 managed to find the back of the net in the second stanza. Grampp's tally at the 19:03 mark of the half marked the 16th of her senior season, which is tied for the second-most on the team. With just over a minute remaining in regulation, Hughson set a new single-season career-high by recording her 10th goal of the 2018 campaign.

Danielle Goddard '20 did not register a point on Wednesday, but she paced the Soaring Eagles with five draw controls and three ground balls and was tied for first with a pair of caused turnovers. Senior defender Kelcey Crawford '18 picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers as well.
