O'Donnell Makes 15 Stops in Field Hockey's Loss vs. Oswego State

Score: Oswego State 5, Elmira College 0
Records: Elmira (1-2), Oswego State (3-0)
Location: Murray Athletic Center -- Pine Valley, N.Y.

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- A 15-save performance by goalkeeper Tina O'Donnell '20 wasn't enough for the Elmira College field hockey team on Wednesday afternoon, as Oswego State picked up a 5-0 victory over the Soaring Eagles in a non-league contest at the Murray Athletic Center.

Under a sweltering sun, the Purple and Gold were outshot by the Lakers, 24-to-4. However, after Oswego State took an early 2-0 lead in the first 14 minutes, O'Donnell and the EC defense were able to keep the visitors off the scoreboard for nearly 30 minutes. In that scoreless span, Elmira's junior keeper logged seven of her saves.

Second-half goals from Oswego's Alyssa DeMichael and Katie Reynolds at 43:30 and 44:37, respectively, allowed the Lakers to double their advantage to four goals quickly.

Elmira's offense nearly broke through late in the second half. Janie Kempf '21 had a shot attempt in the 52nd minute denied by Lakers goalie Joanna Christman, and a pair of penalty corners inside the final three-and-a-half minutes of regulation proved to be unfruitful for the Soaring Eagles.
