ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's basketball team was unable to unlock the stifling defense of St. John Fisher College on Friday evening, as the Cardinals earned a 75-24 victory in Empire 8 Conference action.
The Cardinals hounded EC all night, as St. John Fisher forced the Purple and Gold into 21 turnovers, which translated into 24 points for the home side. The Soaring Eagles chased St. John Fisher off of the 3-point line, as they held the Cardinals to a 24-percent (6-of-25) mark from deep. Despite keeping St. John Fisher cold from deep, EC couldn't keep the Cardinals out of the paint, as they tallied 36 points down low while going 30-for-73 (41.1%).
The Soaring Eagles were led by
Rachel Vespucci '19, who tallied six points and a game-high eight rebounds. St. John Fisher's offense was paced by Leah Koonmen, who scored a game-high 11 points.
