GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Guilford College out-slugged the Elmira College baseball team on Tuesday afternoon, as the Quakers held the Soaring Eagles to just one run in an 8-1 non-conference loss.
Guilford more than doubled EC's hit total, 13-to-5, and posted crooked numbers on the scoreboard in the third, fourth and fifth innings. In the first start of his collegiate career, freshman
Angus Adams '22 was dealt the loss, as he allowed six runs (three earned) with one strikeout in 4.0 innings of work.
Zach Williamson '20 and
Taber Carter '20 each hurled 2.0 innings out of the bullpen. Appearing for the second time in as many days, Williamson finished with one strikeout and two runs allowed, while Carter led all Soaring Eagles with two punchouts in a pair of scoreless frames.
After advancing runners into scoring position in the top of the fourth, EC was able to load the bases in the fifth.

Jared Money '22 each singled, and with two away,
Mark Ryan '21 drove in Elmira's lone run with an infield base hit. The Soaring Eagles were unable to capitalize any further, as
Tommy Fogarty '20 flew out to end the inning.
The Guilford bullpen held Elmira without a hit for the remainder of the game. Starter Ty Walser earned the win, his first of the year, with 7.0 innings of one-run ball and five strikeouts.
