UTICA, N.Y. -- The No. 1/2-ranked Elmira College women's ice hockey team erased a one-goal second-period deficit and rallied for a 5-2 road win over Utica College in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action on Friday afternoon. With the win, Elmira clinched home ice throughout the UCHC Playoffs and, after earning a bye in the opening round, will host the semifinal and championship rounds on Saturday March 2 and Sunday March 3, respectively.

Pacing the Purple and Gold was senior blueliner Meg Lahey '19, who produced three points all on assists en route to Elmira extending its Division III-best winning streak to 13 games. For Lahey, it marked the third time in the last four games she has logged three assists.

Lahey was one of five multi-point producers, as Maddy Jerolman '19, Eliza Beaudin '22, Maddie Evangelous '19 and Shannon Strawinski '19 all finished with two points apiece.

Jerolman tallied Elmira's first two goals, both coming even-strength, in the first and second periods. It extended her point streak to seven games and her goal streak to six.

Beaudin continued her surging play as well by collecting one goal and one assist, extending her consecutive point streak to nine games. Beaudin's tally came on the power play, her fifth extra-skater goal of the year, which held up as today's game-winner.

Senior forwards Evangelous and Strawinski each logged one goal and one assist. For Evangelous, it was her seventh multi-point game of the season, and for Strawinski it was her seventh multi-point effort of the 2018-19 campaign.

Other point-getters included Emma Crocker '21, Amanda Zenstein '22 and starting goalie Stephanie Martin '22, all of whom were credited with one assist apiece.  For Martin, it was her first career point and assist, as she also made 12 saves en route to the 15th win of her rookie season.

In His Own Words…
Head Coach Tim Crowley talks about EC locking up home ice and today's win…
"Our group is excited to clinch home ice, it was a goal of ours since the start of the year and it's nice to have accomplished it. I think we were a little panicked for a bit, but once we settled and played with confidence, it turned our game around today."
