ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Nazareth College in its Empire 8 Conference opener on Saturday afternoon, as the Golden Flyers earned an 18-1 win at Ernie Davis Academy.

Nazareth dominated possession of the ball on Saturday afternoon, as the Soaring Eagles defense was tested early and often. The Golden Flyers finished with a 41-4 advantage in shots, forcing EC's goaltending tandem of Kacie Pierce '21 and Krystyna Lilland '21 to make a combined 13 saves.

The Soaring Eagles got on the board through freshman standout Stephanie Martin '22, who deposited her fourth goal of the season with a little over four minutes to play in the opening half. That was all the offense the Purple and Gold was able to muster however, as Nazareth's hounding defense kept the Soaring Eagles off of the board. Elmira's defense slowed the Golden Flyers' attack in the second half, but the damage was already done as EC fell to its conference foe.
