Box Score 2 CAZENOVIA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's volleyball team bounced back in a big way on the final day of the Cazenovia College Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as the Soaring Eagles picked up a pair of victories over Mount Saint Mary (NY) and Cazenovia.
After falling in their season opener on Friday evening against Alfred State (2-1), Elmira (2-1) picked up a four-set victory over the Knights of Mount Saint Mary (2-1) before dispatching the host Wildcats (0-3) in another 3-1 win.
Match 1
The Soaring Eagles opened the day against Mount Saint Mary at the Schneeweiss Athletic Complex at Cazenovia College and came out firing, taking the match in four sets (25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 25-16).
EC was stellar at the net in the opening set, flowing 17 kills while hitting at a .483 clip as a team, the highest mark of the match. Following their dominant showing in the first set, the Purple and Gold cruised to a 2-0 lead, but the Knights battled back to steal a 25-23 win in the third set. Elmira remained unfazed, however, as the Soaring Eagles offensive came alive once again in the final set with a .345 hitting percentage to put a final stamp on the victory.

Lauren Smith '20 led the way for the EC with 13 kills. First-year talent
Amelia Martin '23 was stellar as well, posting a double-double with 10 kills and 20 digs.
Kassi Hastings '21 continued to shine orchestrating Elmira's attack with a 49-assist performance.
Match 2
The second match of the afternoon saw the Soaring Eagles battle the host Wildcats. The contest followed the script of the first, as Elmira rolled through the first two sets before dropping a hard-fought third set. Despite a setback in the third set, the Purple and Gold roared back to seal the victory with a 25-12 triumph in the fourth and final set.

Lydia Milligan '21 paced the Soaring Eagles with 16 and 11 kills, respectively. Sophomore
Sam Sprague '22 contributed eight kills from the right side, while junior
Savannah Terry '21 contributed six kills from the middle. Hastings showcased her all-around skill-set against the wildcats with 37 assists and a team-leading 16 digs.

"I'm extremely proud of how our team bounced back today," Miranda stated. "Our captains did a great job of leading the team. Savannah [Terry] and Lydia [Milligan] had great matches at the net, while Kassi [Hastings] ran an efficient offense. We figured out a good system or us to maximize our options and we're hoping to keep the momentum going against Pitt-Bradford."
