FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's soccer team suffered a tough non-conference road defeat at the hands of Fredonia, 7-1, on Saturday afternoon. With the setback, the Soaring Eagles dropped to 1-3-0 on the year, while the Blue Devils improved to 2-3-0.

Sophie Richiusa gave the Blue Devils their first lead of the game in 30th minute of action, but Taylor Hanson '21 produced the equalizer in the 33rd minute. Hanson found the lower right corner for the goal, her first of the 2019 campaign.

The tie did not last long, as Fredonia closed out the first half by scoring three unanswered goals. Sophia Alesi tallied the go-ahead go just 19 seconds after Hanson's tally, which was followed by goals from Nina Doyle and Izzy Audette in the 40th and 43rd minutes, respectively.

Despite Elmira's efforts, the Blue Devils continued to find goals in the second half. Gabby Alston made it a 5-1 lead in the 49th minute, while Doyle and Alesia produced their second goals of the contest in the 61st minute and 89th minute marks, respectively, to all but seal a 7-1 win.
