ELMIRA. N.Y. -- Elmira College announced that it is discontinuing three varsity sports, effective immediately. The decision to discontinue the athletic programs is part of a
College-wide initiative to maintain financial stability as it restructures for a sustainable future.
Affected programs are men's cross country, women's cross country, and women's golf. The move directly affects 12 student-athletes.
With the change, Elmira will sponsor 18 varsity sports: baseball, softball, cheerleading, field hockey, men's golf, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's wrestling, and esports.
