ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Women's Volleyball fell to the Gators from Sage College on Saturday afternoon, 3-1. The duo of
Sam Sprague '22 and
Kaylene Sauschuck '22 were honored on Senior Day during the pregame, and didn't disappoint as the pair combined for 23 kills while adding seven total blocks to the ledger.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles struggled in the early going from the setting category, while the Gators took advantage and jumped out to a quick 16-7 lead in the first set. Despite clawing their way back and eventually regaining the lead at 25-24 in the opener, Sage scored three straight to end the set, taking a 27-25 victory and a 1-0 lead.
The Soaring Eagles took the second set 25-20 to tie the match. Trailing 5-4, the Soaring Eagles tied the set and never surrendered the lead while hitting a match-best .220% in the second frame.
The Gators shifted the momentum back to their side in the third, taking the set by the largest margin of victory in the match, seven points, winning 25-18. The Purple & Gold looked to force a fifth and match-deciding set, but came up just short in the effort after dropping the frame 25-23.

The Soaring Eagles will return to the court next weekend when they travel to Rochester to take part in the New York State Challenge. The Purple & Gold will play Fredonia at 11:00 AM on Saturday before taking on RIT at 3:00 PM.
