Field Hockey Downs Medaille on Sunday Afternoon, 7-0

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Elmira College field hockey program recorded its first win of the season with a 7-0 shutout against Medaille College on Sunday. Kylie Rosen '23 and Felicity Brockhuizen '22 each tallied two goals in the match for the Soaring Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira would get off to a quick start as Rosen tallied a pair of goals in the opening seven minutes of the first quarter. The Purple & Gold totaled 12 shots offensively in the quarter while holding Medaille without a shot.

The second quarter would see the Soaring Eagles find the back of the net on four occasions. Katelin Bailey '25 and Felicity Brockhuizen quickly extended the EC lead to 4-0 with a pair of goals just over a minute apart. Kaylee Gill '22 and Emily Ferguson '24 also scored in the quarter to give Elmira a 6-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Felicity Brockhuizen tallied her second goal of the day and closed the scoring for EC in the third quarter to make it 7-0. MeganRae Burke '24 made her lone save of the contest for the Purple & Gold in the third quarter.

Both sides would go scoreless in the fourth quarter as Elmira held a 9-0 advantage in shots to close the contest. The Soaring Eagles dominated in penalty corners, holding a 17-1 advantage over the Mavericks.

Gill and Alex Brockhuizen '22 each finished with a game-high seven shots on goal, while 10 different EC players recorded at least one shot on goal in the victory.
