Women’s Soccer Drops Home Finale on Sunday

ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Nevaeh Winston '25 made 22 saves in goal for the Elmira College women's soccer team, but Lycoming College tallied a pair of goals as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 2-0 decision on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira opened the match with some early offensive pressure as Lauralie Grainer '25 recorded a shot on goal just three minutes into the action. Sienna Fell '25, Sarah Wagner '24, and Taylor Wilms '22 would each be denied in the first half by Lycoming goalkeeper Abbey Gerasimoff. Alicia Blizzard would give the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute.

Lycoming would control the pace of play in the second half as the Warriors recorded 11 shots on goal. Winston continued to keep the Purple & Gold in the match as she stopped 10 of the shots that were fired her way. Hannah Lounsbury added to the Lycoming lead in the 78th minute off an assist from Emily Shultz.

Winston totaled 12 saves in the first half and 10 in the second half for the Soaring Eagles. This is the seventh time this season that Winston has recorded at least 10 saves in a match and her first making at least 20.
