ALFRED, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's soccer team dropped an Empire 8 conference away match on Saturday afternoon to Alfred University, 4-0. The Saxons outshot the visiting Soaring Eagles 24-2 with 11 of their shots coming on target to just one for Elmira. Alfred also held the advantage in corner kicks in the match, 6-0. EC goalkeeper Nevaeh Winston '25 made seven saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagle defense played strong for just shy of the first half hour of the match, conceding just three shots on goal. But in the 28th minute, the Saxons took the lead on a goal from Angelina Rodriguez. The score would stay at 1-0 as the two teams went into half time and for another 20 minutes of the second half.
 
Alfred would then pull away over the course of two minutes with goals in the 65th and 67th minutes. Abigail Austin scored the first unassisted and Nyah Solly grabbed the other on an assist from Rodriguez. Later in the match with 10 minutes to play, the Saxons would make it 4-0 on a goal from Anastasia Pavlock.
