AURORA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Women's Basketball team picked up their second win of the season in as many tries on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Express from Wells College 63-30.
Desiree Roy '25 led the charge offensively for the Soaring Eagles with 19 points and eight rebounds as Elmira starts the season 2-0 for the first time since 2017.

HOW IT HAPPENED :
The Soaring Eagles jumped out to a 14-3 lead early as six different EC players joined the early scoring. Headed into the second quarter, Elmira held an early nine point advantage, leading 16-7.
The second quarter showed to be the closest scoring margin of the afternoon, as EC outscored the Express 10-8. Headed into the break, Elmira held a 26-15 lead.
Coming out of the break, the Purple & Gold surged to a 23 point quarter as
Olivia Ayres '25 notched five points while Albrecht scored four. The Soaring Eagles were able to shoot a game-best 36.4% from the floor on 8-of-22 from the floor.
The Soaring Eagles capped off the night outscoring the Express 14-6 in the fourth quarter and cruised to a 63-30 win. Elmira used a 39-6 advantage on points off turnovers in the game, forcing Wells to cough up the ball 51 times. In addition, EC received 27 points from the bench and held a 12-point advantage in second chance points.
