WELLESLEY, MA – The Elmira College Men's Ice Hockey team dropped their NEHC opener on Friday evening against the 11
th ranked Beavers of Babson College, 6-3. After trailing 4-0 just before the midway point in the second period, the Soaring Eagles were able to score three of the next five goals as
Shawn Kennedy '24,
Chance Gorman '24, and
Janis Vizbelis '24 each scored on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Beavers got on the board in the 16
th minute and never looked back as Mike Egan scored on an assist from Ryan Black. Just two minutes later it was Egan, once again who put the puck past Elmira goalkeeper
Chris Janzen '21 to put Babson ahead 2-0 headed into the first intermission.
In the first 12 minutes of the second period, Matt Wiesner and Ryan Black (powerplay opportunity) scored on solo assists to take a commanding 4-0 lead. At the 15:06 mark in the second period, on a powerplay opportunity, the Soaring Eagles got it done as Kennedy scored his second goal of the season on assists from Gorman and
Jared Smith '24.
With two minutes remaining before the final intermission, it was Gorman who scored his first of the season on assists from
Bailey Krawczyk '24 and
Jordan Gonzalez '24 to trim the Beaver lead in half.
In the third, the Beavers were able to score twice compared to once for the Soaring Eagles, as Vizbelis scored on assists from
Nicholas Domitrovic '24 and
Daniel Dimon '24.
Janzen finished the game with 24 saves while allowing six goals. Jeffery Zero '23 came on for the final 16:36 and notched nine saves.
