GORHAM, ME – The No. 13 nationally-ranked Elmira College men's ice hockey team skated to a 2-2 draw against New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) foe Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon.
Janis Vizbelis '24 and
Bailey Krawczyk '24 each scored in the contest for the Purple & Gold.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles would take a 1-0 lead at the 11:15 mark of the first period as Krawczyk scored his second goal this season for the Soaring Eagles. Krawczyk found the back of the net after finishing off a play set up by Vizbelis.
Elmira looked to take a lead into the locker room but would see the score get knotted as Tyler Mitchell found the back of the net for the Huskies at the 18:48 mark.
Vizbelis put the Purple & Gold back on top just 39 seconds into the second period with a tally on the power play.
Amedeo Mastrangeli '24 and
Daniel Dimon '24 both assisted on the play.
Southern Maine continued to look for the equalizer against the Soaring Eagles and would find the back of the net with just under five minutes left to play in the second period. Cutis Judd would convert on the power play at the 15:09 mark to knot the score 2-2.
Both sides would skate through a scoreless 20 minutes in the third period as the Soaring Eagles and Huskies looked to overtime to try and find a winner. In the extra five-minute frame, Elmira had three different scoring opportunities that would be turned away. Krawczyk would find the puck on his stick for a pair of those opportunities, while
Chance Gorman '24 had the other shot that would be stopped.
Chris Janzen '21 made four stops in overtime for Elmira and finished the contest with 24 saves overall in net for the Soaring Eagles. Krawczyk and Gorman combined to record 15 of EC's 49 shots in the game.

The Soaring Eagles return to the ice against Buffalo State on Saturday, November 13. Puck drop against the Bengals from the Murray Athletic Center is set for 7:00 p.m. The game will serve as EC's Military Appreciation Night with the Soaring Eagles wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off.
