NORTHFIELD, VT. – The third-ranked Elmira College Women's Ice Hockey program saw an early third-period lead dissolve as the fourth-ranked Plattsburgh State Cardinals scored with just over a minute left to play and secured a 4-3 victory at the East-West Hockey Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Holley Riva '23 would get the Soaring Eagles onto the scoreboard first as she found the back of the net at the 9:36 mark of the first period.
Jenny Heath '22 and
Sydney Harris '21 would both be credited with the assists on Riva's tally.
The Cardinals knotted the score at the 10:23 mark of the period as Kendall Wasik took a feed from Tatem Cheney that would beat Elmira goaltender
Leonie-Louise Kuehberger '25. The Purple & Gold wouldn't wait long to retake the lead as
Eliza Beaudin '22 scored the first of her two goals on the night at the 10:55 mark to make it 2-1.
Annie Katonka scored the first of her three goals with less than a minute left to play in the first period as the Cardinals would knot the score 2-2.
The second period would be a scoreless 20 minutes of action as Kuehberger stopped all 15 shots that she faced in net for the Soaring Eagles. Elmira would be unable to find the back of the net against Chole Beaubien, who took over in goal for the Cardinals to start the frame. Beaubien stopped each of the 10 shots that Elmira recorded.
Beaudin added her second of the night for the Purple & Gold just three minutes into the third period to make it 3-2.
Morgan Mordini '22 and
Claire Elfring '25 were each credited with the assists on the go-ahead tally for Elmira.
A power-play goal for the Cardinals at the 7:40 mark of the third period would knot the score 3-3, while Katonka completed her hat trick with a short-handed goal at the 18:24 mark to provide the eventual game-winner for Plattsburgh.
Despite dropping just her second game in goal this year for Elmira, Kuehberger finished with 34 saves in net for Elmira.
