ELMIRA, N.Y. – The third-ranked Elmira College Women's Ice Hockey program received a career performance from
Claire Meeder '23 as the Soaring Eagles skated to an 8-0 victory in New England Hockey Conference action against Plymouth State on Saturday. Meeder finished with three goals and one assist for the Purple & Gold.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Facing each other for the first time, it would be the Soaring Eagles that would break the ice just 1:24 into the first period as
Eliza Beaudin '22 found the back of the net to give Elmira a 1-0 lead.
Emma Crocker '21 assisted on Beaudin's tally that eluded Plymouth State's goaltender Olivia Petito.
The Purple & Gold would take a 1-0 lead into the intermission as netminder
Maggie Gilman '23 stopped all seven shots that she faced for Elmira.
Meeder tallied her first of the night at the 6:23 mark of the second period to give EC a 2-0 lead.
Erika Goleniak '25, who assisted on Meeder's goal would have the favor returned as she recorded her second tally of the weekend to make it 3-0 off an assist from Meeder at the 11:21 mark.
Working on the power play, Meeder increased the lead to 4-0 as her second goal at the 14:31 mark would be assisted by
Brooke McArdle '22, and
Holley Riva '23. Meeder completed her hat trick and the scoring for EC in the second period with another power-play tally at the 18:39 mark off assists from Goleniak and Riva to make it 6-0.
The Soaring Eagles added two more goals in the third period as Crocker found the back of the net for her second tally of the contest at the 17:14 mark to make it 7-0.
Morgan Mordini '22 and
Jenny Heath '22 both registered assists on the goal by Crocker.
Claire Elfring '25 closed the scoring with just over a minute left to play in regulation as she took a feed from
Sabrina Shvartsman '25 to make it 8-0.
Gilman improved to 2-0 on the season after notching her second shutout for the Soaring Eagles. She finished with 17 saves in the contest as EC recorded its second consecutive shutout of the weekend. Crocker finished with three points for EC, while Goleniak added three points herself for the Soaring Eagles.
