HOW IT HAPPENED:
After
Lindsey Smith '24 was sent off following a green card in the second quarter, the Colonels wasted little time taking advantage as Morghan Murphy found the back of the box just 17 seconds later to put Wilkes ahead 1-0.
The Colonels outshot the Soaring Eagles 6-4 in the opening half, as
MeganRae Burke '24 made a save during her 30 minutes of play in the first half.
Bella DeAmelia '24 came on for Burke in the second half.
10 minutes into the closing half, Murphy went on to score her second of the game which pushed the Wilkes lead to two.
With 12 minutes remaining in the contest,
Katelin Bailey '25 scored the first goal of her collegiate career on an assist from
Candice Sabatino '24 off of a penalty corner to cut the Wilkes lead to 2-1.
Ali Dunn pushed the Wilkes lead back to two and capped the scoring on the day as Wilkes went on to take a 3-1 win.
