Field Hockey Drops Friday Matchup with Oswego State 4-0

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – The Elmira College Field Hockey team dropped their non-conference matchup to a stealthy Oswego State squad, holding the Lakers to just four goals despite powering for 27 shots (15 on goal). The Soaring Eagles held the visitors to their third lowest scoring output of the season, with the EC goalkeeping tadem of Bella DeAmelia '24 & MeganRae Burke '24 making 11 saves on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 The Lakers notched a goal in each of the four quarters, with Kate Mastracco starting the scoring for Oswego State ten minutes into the game. The Soaring Eagles were tested with three shots in the opening frame, with the only one on goal resulting in a lead for the Lakers.
 
In the second, Oswego notched their second of the game with under two mintues remaining in the half as Mastracco assisted Alyssa DeMichael as Oswego went into the break holding a two-goal lead.
 
Burke was substituted for DeAmelia to begin the second half, who finished the game allowing two goals while making three saves. Burke would go on to also allow a pair in the second half, while recording eight saves.
 
The Lakers went on to score goals in the 33rd and 57th minutes, while taking advantage of a 16-1 margin in penalty corners.

Elmira will be back in action tomorrow, September 25, as they travel to Houghton for a date with the Highlanders. Game time is set for 3:30 PM.
