HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- The Elmira College field hockey team dropped their afternoon matchup to the Highlanders of Houghton College, falling 6-0 on Saturday. Houghton (3-4, 2-1 E8) used a trio of goals in each half on their way to victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Highlanders used a trio of first half goals from Jace Hunzinger (3
rd & 14
th minutes), as well as Peyton Bentley (21
st minute) to carry a 3-0 lead into halftime. The Soaring Eagles, who were outshot 18-4 in the opening frame, were able to place each of their shots on net despite not being able to find the back of the box.
MeganRae Burke '24 made eight saves in goal for Elmira in the first half, allowing three goals.
Bella DeAmelia '24 made a pair of second half saves while also allowing three goals.
In the second half, Sarah Retz, as well as Bentley (twice) were able to find the back of the net to extend the Highlander lead to 6-0. The Highlanders used a 16-1 advantage in penalty corners to help the home team control the tempo on Saturday afternoon.

Elmira will take on Washington & Jefferson a week from today (October 2) at the Murray Athletic Center. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
