ELMIRA, N.Y. -- A strong display in the second half saw the Elmira College women's soccer team grab a 4-1 victory over the visiting Panthers of Pitt-Bradford on Thursday afternoon. Sienna Fell '25 and Claire Elfring '25 each scored their first career goals for the Purple & Gold while Rachel Bortnick '25 added to her team lead with her third goal of the season. Adrianna Cornell '22 also got in on the action with her second goal of the year.

JUST THE BASICS:

LOCATION: Elmira, NY
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (2-3, 0-0 E8), Pitt-Bradford (0-4-1, 0-0 AMCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles were in command from the start but weren't able to come away with a goal before halftime. They outshot Pitt-Bradford 10 to 3 in the first half and 21 to 7 overall.

In the second half EC would break through for their first goal 12 minutes into play and reel off four goals over the course of just 20 minutes. Fell got the scoring started when she put back a rebound from an Elfring shot that bounced off the right post. Fell would then follow up her first collegiate goal with her first collegiate assist in the 67th minute when she supplied Bortnick with a pass at the top right corner of the 18-yard box. Bortnick took one touch to settle the ball and ripped a shot past the keeper to make it 2-0.

Just like Fell, Bortnick would follow her goal with an assist when she found a darting Elfring down the right side of the penalty area in the 75th minute. Elfring would calmly slot the ball past the keeper for her first career goal.

Three minutes later, Lauralie Grainer sent a beautiful through ball from just over half field right to the top of the 18-yard box. Cornell beat her defender to the ball and one timed it into net for the Soaring Eagles' fourth goal.

Late in the 89th minute, the Panthers would get on the board when Katie Anderson scored off a assist from teammate Delaney Stowe.
