JUST THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elmira 0, Sage 0
LOCATION: Elmira, N.Y.
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (2-3-1, 0-0-1 E8), Sage (2-2-1, 0-0-1 E8)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Purple & Gold defense was stout all afternoon at Campus Field, making important tackles and clearances during key moments to keep Sage from finding a goal. Winston had the best game of her young career, handling a multitude of different shots by the Gators and even getting some help from the crossbar as two shots bounced off the woodwork. Whenever Sage created a chance, Winston was there to make the save.
Despite only creating two shots on goal, EC had a chance to take the lead in the 68th minute. The Soaring Eagles grabbed possession in the midfield and strong together four passes with the final one finding
Kelly Keegan '23 sprinting down the right sideline. She gathered the ball and sent a beautiful cross into the middle of the penalty area where
Sarah Wagner '24 tried to direct it in with her right foot but wasn't able to hit the target.
