After a strong first half that saw Elmira outshoot the Wildcats, 8-4, the Soaring Eagles got themselves on the board just 13 minutes after halftime when
Lauralie Grainer '25 won the Purple & Gold a free kick. Elfring would set up over the ball and send a strong shot in towards goal. The ball sailed over the keeper and looked to be headed for the crossbar but dipped suddenly right into the back of net.
Less than a minute later, the Soaring Eagles were hungry to extend their lead. Right back
Lauren Foster '23 made a strong run, pushing the ball forward up into the right side of the penalty area and won EC a corner. On the ensuing kick Grainer got her head on the ball but was blocked by a Wildcat defender. Elmira would go on to control the last 30 minutes of play and did not allow another shot to Cazenovia in the match.
