ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's soccer opened up Empire 8 conference play with a 1-0 win over host Sage College on Saturday afternoon.
Gavin Wise '22 came through with the game-winning goal for the Soaring Eagles in the 56th minute and the defense held tough throughout the half to secure the victory. The Gators outshot EC 13-10 and had the advantage in corner kicks, 5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first half, the Purple and Gold broke the tie 11 minutes into the second with an unassisted goal Wise. After conceding the goal to Wise, Sage spent the next 34 minutes of the match looking to even things up with six shots and three corner kicks. Four shots were blocked by Soaring Eagle defenders and two of the corner kicks lead to shots on goal but were saved by keeper
