HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first half saw the ball live in the middle third of the pitch. Both teams looked to put passes together with FDU-Florham finding more success. The Devils forced Winston into four saves while EC tested the visiting keeper just once.

For the first 36 minutes of the second half, FDU-Florham searched for an opportunity at goal, winning three corner kicks and putting three shots on goal. The Soaring Eagles stood strong throughout, but in the 81st minute The Devils broke the tie. FDU-Florham's Ashleigh Frankel found Tatiana Nieto just outside the top of the 18-yard box. Nieto ripped a shot that was out of reach for Winston as it found its way into the left side netting of goal to make it 1-0.

A minute and 20 seconds later Elmira looked to answer as Rachel Bortnick '25 pushed forward with the ball up the left sideline. A few nifty moves got her into open space and she sprinted towards the left side of the penalty box. An FDU defender tried to cut her off and was called for a foul, awarding EC with a penalty shot. Bortnick went for power on the kick and the ball sailed over the top of the crossbar.

UP NEXT:
Elmira returns to action on Saturday, October 2nd when they host the Nazareth Golden Flyers at Campus Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
