ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira Women's Volleyball team fell 3-1 in their Wednesday evening non-conference matchup to Wells. In a very statistically even matchup, the Soaring Eagles came up short in four sets inside the Farenthold Athletic Wing.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles and Express battled back and forth in the first set, as 24 kills combined led to positive hitting percentages from both teams. After jumping out to an early 8-3 lead, the Soaring Eagles scored only three of the next ten points to even the score at 11-11.
As the set continued,
Kaylene Sauschuck '22 tied the game at 20-20 after a kill which was set from
Cassidy Ryan '24. Despite the momentum turning, the Express went on to score five of the next seven points, taking the set 25-23.
The Soaring Eagles rolled through the second set to even the match at 1-1. In the set, the Soaring Eagles hit a match-best .172% while recording 11 kills.
Sam Sprague '22 led the Purple & Gold in kills in the match, notching 15 of EC's 38 for the match.
In competitive third and fourth sets, the Soaring Eagles came up short in both (25-20, 25-19).
