BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The Elmira College field hockey team dropped their season opener to the Golden Eagles from Brockport College on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-0. Brockport held Elmira to just three shots while powering for 31 of their own in the game. Bella DeAmelia '24 and MeganRae Burke '24 split time in net for the Soaring Eagles, totaling a combined 19 saves on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 Brockport got on the board in the 9^th minute of play after Alyssa Fuccillo was assisted by Katie Ziemba and Kayli Burr. The goal would go down as the game-winner in the contest. Despite going for seven shots in the opening quarter, Burke was able to hold the Brockport offense to just one goal headed into the second.
 
Brockport would add a pair of goal in the second frame over the course of three minutes. After Katelynn Mello scored, Fuccillo was able to get on the board once again for her second of the day.
 
Headed into the second half down by three, the Soaring Eagles were able to put up their first shots of the game from Felicity Brockhuizen '22 and Kari Jensen '23. Following, Brockport once again scored a pair over the course of three minutes nearing the midway point of the third period to extend their lead to 5-0.
 
The Golden Eagles capped the scoring with an early fourth quarter goal to take the win at 6-0.

The Soaring Eagles will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against the Giants from Keystone. Play will begin at 4:00 PM on the campus of Keystone College.
