HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Paces took control of the game, scoring the contests first goal of the contest in just the third minute of play. After adding a goal in the 13
th minute, the first quarter ended with Elmira trailing 2-0.
The second quarter was quiet from both sides with the exception of a Marywood goal which increased the lead to 3-0 for the Pacers. Despite allowing just one goal, Elmira was able to hold off 16 shots from Marywood in the quarter, compared to zero for the Soaring Eagles.
Ahead by three, Marywood would go on to score just five minutes into the second half to increase their lead to 4-0.
Felicity Brockhuizen was able to put Elmira on the board from 8 yards out, being assisted by
Sarah Griffith '23 on a ball in from the right arc to bring the score to 4-1 in favor of the Pacers.
After Marywood added a pair of goals in the 43
rd and 48
th minutes, Brockhuizen once again scored, this time on assists from
Jenna Heiser '23 and
Katelin Bailey '25. It marked the third goal of the season for Brockhuizen and the second assist for Bailey.
The Soaring Eagles converted on two of their three shots on net for the game, while Marywood, who put up 36 shots, converted on just six.
MeganRae Burke '24 faced 22 shots on frame for the game, recording a career-high 16 saves.
Brockhuizen recorded the first multi-goal game of her career in the loss.
