SUNY Delhi Downs Women's Soccer 4-0 on Tuesday Afternoon

DELHI, N.Y. -- Set pieces caused the Elmira College women's soccer team problems on Tuesday afternoon as hosts SUNY Delhi went on to win 4-0. Senior Alexa Dubois accounted for all four of the Bronco's goals. The Soaring Eagles conceded two goals over an eight minute span about midway through the first half and Dubois added two more in the second half to put the game away.

JUST THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elmira 0, SUNY Delhi 4
LOCATION: Delhi, N.Y.
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (1-2, 0-0 E8), SUNY Delhi (2-1, 0-0 NAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the 25th minute, Delhi sent a corner kick in from the left side that fell short, but the team was able to quickly gain possession and send the ball back towards the corner for another cross attempt. This time the ball was headed for Elmira keeper Nevaeh Winston '25 but Bronco freshman Caterina Fox got to it first and directed the ball down right in front of senior Alexa Dubois for an easy goal.

Eight minutes later, Delhi won another corner, this time from the right side. A booming cross from Olivia Curry traveled high towards the back post and found the head of Dubois for her second of the game.

Delhi ended the match with six corners to Elmira's one, five of which came in the first half.

In the second half, Dubois bagged her hat trick in the 54th minute after a Bronco free kick from 40 yards out bounced off the cross bar and into the penalty area. Kelsey Innes dropped the ball back to Dubois who fired a strong shot into the back right side of net. Six minutes later, another Delhi corner from the right side was taken short and the ball found Innes who took a shot on goal that was redirected past the keeper by Dubois.

The Purple and Gold finished with just three less shots on goal (6) than the hosts (9) but were unable to convert on their opportunities.
