BOSTON, Mass. – The Elmira College Men's Ice Hockey team dropped its Friday evening matchup with the Beacons from UMass Boston on Friday evening, falling to the opposition 3-2. After
Ryan Reifler '24 scored with just under a minute remaining in the first period for Elmira before the Soaring Eagles would eventually grab a 2-0 lead in the second on a goal from
Nicholas Domitrovic '24.
The game-winner for UMass Boston came at the midway point in the third period as Devin Moran scored on a Beacon power-play opportunity.
Chris Janzen '21 finished the game with 29 saves in 59:33 of action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The scoring got started for Elmira in the 20
th minute of play as Reifler scored on assists from
Shawn Kennedy '24 and
Chance Gorman '24 with just 55 seconds remaining in the opening period. The front part of the first period was quiet offensively, as Janzen finished the frame with 12 saves, compared to Beacon goaltender Sam Best who finished with 15.
In the second, the Soaring Eagles would increase its lead to 2-0 on a goal from Domitrovic, assisted by
Janis Vizbelis '24. From there, the game would belong to UMass Boston as the Beacons scored just two minutes later after
Amedeo Mastrangeli '24 was sent to the penalty box on a slashing call.
Trailing 2-1, Ethan Nitkin was able to convert on his second goal in just five minutes to even the score at 2-2 on a pair of Beacon assists.
Tied at 2-2 heading into the third, the Beacons scored the game-winner on another power-play opportunity at the 11:41 mark.
