Seven Soaring Eagles Score as Elmira Downs Johnson & Wales 9-2 on Tuesday

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Seven different Soaring Eagles would score as the Elmira College Men's Ice Hockey team got back to its winning ways on Tuesday, defeating Johnson & Wales 9-2. After Chance Gorman '24 scored the games' opening goal at the 13:39 mark in the first period, the Wildcats would tie the game before heading into the first intermission. From there, Elmira used a 7-1 run to conclude the game, including a five-goal third period. 

Nicholas Domitrovic '24 paced the Soaring Eagles with a goal and three assists, giving the sophomore 11 points since the turn of the New Year. Five other Soaring Eagles notched at least a pair of points, as Bailey Krawczyk '24 (1 G, 2 A), Janis Vizbelis '24 (2 G, 1 A), Joel Pavey '25 (1 G, 2 A), and Ryan Reifler '24 (2 G) each contributed to the ledger. 

The game marked the 100th game of Adam Eby 's '21 career, while Pavey notched the first goal of his career. In addition, goaltender Jeffrey Zero '25 was credited with the first assist of his career on Elmira's 7th goal of the evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After Gorman scored on an assist from Domitrovic at the 13:39 mark in the opening period, Johnson & Wales would even the score just under four minutes later as Carter Elrod sent the contest into the second period even at 1-1. 

Zero would make five saves in the first period, followed by a clean sheet in the second period (6 saves) which saw Elmira retake the lead at 4-1. In the second frame, Domitrovic, Krawczyk, and Vizbelis would each record multiple points. 

In the third period, Krawczyk secured his third point of the night at the 3:29 mark after being assisted by Amedeo Mastrangeli '24. From there, Pavey would score for the Soaring Eagles on a short-handed opportunity after Graham Denomme '23 (2 A) was sent to the penalty box following a hooking call. 

From there, both Eby and Reifler would score on power-play opportunities for Elmira with a goal from Vizbelis mixed in between. Johnson & Wales would conclude the scoring at the 17:45 mark.  Zero finished the contest with 13 total saves, eclipsing 100 saves on the season.

The Soaring Eagles will be back at home for its final regular-season home games of the season, taking on Skidmore on Friday (7:00 PM) before returning to the ice on Saturday against Castleton as part of Senior Day and Athletics Alumni Weekend.
