UTICA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's soccer team fell 3-0 to host Utica University on Saturday afternoon at the Pioneer Turf and Track and Field Complex. The Soaring Eagles went into halftime trailing 1-0 and conceded two more goals to the Pioneers after the break. Goalkeeper Neveah Winston '25 tied a season-high with ten saves in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sarah Wagner '24 looked to get EC on the board just under 15 minutes into play when she tried to rip a shot past the Utica goalkeeper Courtney Connolly. Twenty minutes later, freshman
Ally Stilo '26 found space for a shot but it sailed wide.
In the 35th minute the Pioneers would grab the lead on a goal from Julianna Beaulieu and narrowly missed a chance to double their lead before half but were unable to beat the buzzer.
Just five minutes into the second half, freshman
Faith Ingber '26 almost found an equalizer for the Purple & Gold. Utica was able to find the next goal though and pushed their lead to two goals in the 53rd minute and made it 3-0 with four minutes to go in the match. The Pioneers out shot Elmira 20 to 5 and won two corners to EC's one on the day.

The Purple & Gold are back on the pitch Wednesday, October 19 when they travel to Buffalo to take on Medaille University. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
