Soaring Eagles Corral Broncos in Non-Conference Action, 4-1

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Ally Stilo '26 and Lauralie Granier '25 each tallied their first collegiate goals in the first half as the Elmira College women's soccer program defeated SUNY Delhi 4-1 on Tuesday in a non-conference tilt at Campus Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Playing their final non-conference matchup of the season, the Soaring Eagles would strike first in the contest as Stilo found the back of the Delhi net just over seven minutes into the opening frame. Stilo's marker, the first of her collegiate career, would be unassisted at the 7:26 mark to give the Purple & Gold a 1-0 lead.
 
EC would add to its advantage late in the opening half as Grainer beat the Broncos goalkeeper in the 35th minute of action to make it 2-0. Grainer's first collegiate goal would come after getting open at the top of the penalty box and finding the back of the net at the 34:25 mark. The Soaring Eagles held a 7-5 advantage in shots along with a 4-1 margin in corner kicks in the first half.
 
The Broncos capitalized off a penalty kick opportunity early in the second half after contact would be made inside the box. Micayla Slattery would take the kick for Delhi and convert as she found the back of the net at the 54:32 mark to make it 2-1.
 
Elmira responded with a goal in the 58th minute as Sarah Wagner '24 beat the keeper for her second tally of the season to make it 3-1 in favor of the Purple & Gold. The Soaring Eagles capped the scoring in the 61st minute of action as Rachel Bortnick '25 recorded her third goal of the season after blasting a shot to the upper left corner of the goal to make it 4-1. Piper Andrews '26 notched her first collegiate assist after feeding the ball to Bortnick on the play.
 
Nevaeh Winston '25 improved to 5-6-0 in net on the season for Elmira after recording a pair of saves. Grainer, Wagner, and Faith Ingber '26 each recorded a pair of shots on goal in the contest for the Soaring Eagles, who finished the contest with a 13-8 margin in shots and a 9-3 edge in shots on goal.  

UP NEXT:
The Purple & Gold return to Empire 8 Conference action with a matchup against Alfred on October 8 at Campus Field beginning at noon. The Soaring Eagles then hit the road for three straight E8 contests beginning with Hartwick on October 12 at 7:00 P.M.
