HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the opener, the Soaring Eagles found themselves in an early deficit to the Wolves, who went up 2-0 in the match after consecutive 25-19 victories in the first two sets. The Soaring Eagles were outmatched by the Wolves, who recorded 25 kills in the first two frames.
Leading 8-6 in the third, Elmira got to work as they scored nine consecutive points to jump out to a 17-9 lead. Keuka would pull close nearing the end of the set (trailing 21-18), but an attacking error along with a kill from Martin sealed the set for EC, 25-21.
In the fourth, the teams would battle back-and-forth with nearly identical attacking errors. After Keuka broke away late, Elmira would rally down 21-15 to score ten of the final 12 points to force the fifth set. EC tied the contest with its fourth set win after a Wolf Pack service error.
As expected, the fifth set was nothing short of exciting as Elmira rallied from 13-7 down to pull within two before the Wolves were finally able to halt the Soaring Eagle comeback effort, scoring two of the final three points.
Despite Elmira leading the way in hitting percentage (.143), Keuka held the advantage in set percentage, service percentage, along with reception percentage.
In Elmira's final match of the day, the Soaring Eagles were out-killed 36-19 by the Yellowjackets, who went on to take each of the three sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-16).
Martin led the way for EC with six kills, while Gabriela Rodriguez '26 recorded eight digs.
