PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Elmira College Men's Basketball team dropped its Saturday afternoon matchup to the hosts from St. John Fisher, 102-76. After trailing by 27 at the half, the Soaring Eagles were able to outscore the opposition in the second half 46-45, but would come up short despite a 29-point effort from Riley Spencer '26, a career-high.
Bryan Adams '25 and JJ Babcock '26 would round out the scoring leaders for Elmira, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In the contest, the Cardinals would jump out to an early 23-5 lead following a layup from Connor Recore at the 13:08 mark. From there, Fisher would increase its lead to as many as 31 points with 2:56 remaining in the frame before buckets from Babcock and Dylan Jacob '24 sent EC to the locker room down 57-30.
In the second half, the Soaring Eagles would score seven of the first ten points, including three points from Bryan Adams '25. The teams would play nearly even offense down the stretch as Fisher would go on to capture victory.
For the contest, Fisher would lead the points off turnover battle 23-10, forcing the Soaring Eagles into 16 turnovers compared to 15 for the home squad. The Soaring Eagles would receive 47 points from its bench, while Fisher controlled the interior by scoring 52 points in the paint compared to 22 for the Purple & Gold.
