ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's basketball program had its two-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night as the Soaring Eagles dropped a 73-51 decision against Nazareth College inside Kidera Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Desiree Roy '25 scored the first four points of the contest for the Soaring Eagles before Nazareth answered with an 11-0 run to take a 15-4 lead with 1:38 left in the quarter. 
Taylor Jung '25 ended the scoring drought for the Purple & Gold with a layup that would fall with 42 seconds left to play. The Golden Flyers ended the frame with a layup to take an 11-point lead into the second quarter.
Jung opened the second quarter with a layup for the Soaring Eagles that would trim the deficit to 17-8 before Nazareth went on another run to stretch the lead to 26-8. 
Taylor Albrecht '22 and Roy would each hit jumpers halfway through the frame to cut the gap to 28-12. Jung closed the scoring in the frame for EC with a pair of made free throws at the 2:01 mark as the Golden Flyers would take a 36-19 lead into the half.
Nevaeh Winston '25 tallied four of EC's first six points in the third quarter as she finished a 3-point play after drawing a foul at the 7:43 mark. Nazareth would lead by as many as 25 points late in the quarter before Albrecht and Roy would each record buckets for Elmira. The Golden Flyers ended the quarter with a 5-0 run to extend its lead to 59-31.
Elmira would look for a comeback effort in the fourth quarter as the Purple & Gold got things rolling offensively, including a pair of 3-pointers from Albrecht and 
Olivia Ayres '25. 
Anna Ward '25 scored each of the last four points of the contest for Elmira as she went to the charity stripe with 1:54 left to play before finishing a layup with 19 seconds left on the clock.
Roy finished the contest with her second consecutive double-double as she added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Soaring Eagles. Albrecht added a team-high 13 points and three steals, while Winston finished with seven points and eight boards.
