POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's volleyball fell in its UVC opener on Friday evening to the Brewers from Vassar College, 3-0.
Alberto Mauricio '25 paced Elmira with 8 kills in the match, with
Eric Jackson '23 and
Oscar Munoz Trinidad '23 adding 11 kills total.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles suffered its largest defeat of the night in the first set as Vassar cruised to a 25-12 victory. In the set, the Brewers used four stretches of three consecutive points or more, including five of the final seven points.
The second set saw Elmira play its closest of the evening. After trailing 15-14, the Soaring Eagles surrendered three consecutive points before Mauricio notched a kill set up by Munoz Trinidad to pull back within three. From there, Elmira would inch back within just one point after a three-point stretch, but Vassar would take three of the final four points to secure a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set saw Elmira lead it off with a kill from Munoz Trinidad before Vassar scored four of the next five points. From there, the Brewers would never trail in the set as they finished the match on a 9-4 run to take the third and final set 25-17.
