ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's soccer program used a 31st-minute goal from
Piper Andrews '26 to record its second 1-0 shutout victory of the season on Tuesday against Alfred State at Campus Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira showed early signs of offensive pressure as Andrews,
Rachel Bortnick '25, and
Sophie Tarntino '25 each registered shots on frame that would be denied by the Pioneers. Andrews would give EC a 1-0 lead at the 30:39 mark after taking a feed from Bortnick that put her in a 1-on-1 situation with the goalie.
Looking to add to its 1-0 advantage in the second half, the Purple & Gold tallied three shots that would be denied by Alfred State. EC netminder
Nevaeh Winston '25 turned away a pair of shots in the half, including an opportunity by the Pioneers in the 71
st minute.
Andrews' goal is her second of the season, while Bortnick has picked up the primary assist on both goals for the Soaring Eagles. Winston finished the contest with three saves and recorded her second shutout of the season. Elmira held a 13-7 edge in shots and an 8-3 margin in shots on goal, while the Purple & Gold held a slight 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
