HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira would come out of the gates with sustained pressure against the Herons and worked defensively to deny an opportunity by William Smith at the 2:23 mark of the opening quarter. The Herons would take a 1-0 lead at the 3:06 mark as a scramble in front of the net would beat EC goalkeeper MeganRae Burke '24. William Smith would go on to find the back of the net five more times to take a 6-0 lead into the second quarter.

The Soaring Eagles received a penalty corner early in the second quarter and would look to find the back of the net as Rosen inserted the ball for EC. A shot from Bailey would be turned away by the Herons to keep the Soaring Eagles off of the scoresheet. Burke would stop three scoring opportunities by William Smith before a shot at the 28:33 mark would find the back of the cage to make it 7-0.

Burke made a pair of saves early to open the third corner for the Soaring Eagles as William Smith set up a pair of plays at the 37:16 mark and 38:17 mark of the frame. The Herons would get a penalty corner halfway through the frame and would have an ensuing shot denied by the EC defensive core. William Smith added to its lead at the 41:26 mark with a goal to make it 8-0.

The Soaring Eagles would stop several early scoring chances for William Smith in the fourth quarter before the Herons would make it 9-0 with a goal at the 53:21 mark. The Herons added their final goal of the contest at the 55:49 mark to make it 10-0. Elmira would get a late chance to ruin the shutout bid as Rosen got past the William Smith defense for a 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper. A lunging effort by the Herons' netminder denied the scoring bid at the 56:49 mark.

Burke finished with nine saves in the cage for the Soaring Eagles, while Frankie Puglisi '24 appeared in her fourth game this season for Elmira.
