LOCATION: Pine Valley, N.Y. | Murray Athletic Center
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (0-3, 0-0 E8), Keystone (2-0, 0-0 CSAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Keystone would strike quickly as the Giants found the back of the net just 36 seconds into the contest to take a 1-0 lead against the Soaring Eagles. The Giants would push their lead to 2-0 halfway through the first quarter. Elmira looked to get onto the scoreboard in the frame as Griffith worked the Keystone goalkeeper out of position only to see her shot saved along the line by a Giants defender.
The Soaring Eagles would later get a scoring opportunity following a penalty corner at the 9:27 mark as Rosen would have her shot denied by Keystone's goalkeeper Casey Stratton. In net for the Purple & Gold, Burke would record four saves.
The score would remain 2-0 in favor of the Giants until late in the second quarter as Keystone beat Burke at the 28:32 mark to increase the lead to 3-0. That would be the lone tally before the first half would end as Burke notched six saves in the cage for EC.
Keystone tallied three goals in the third period to make it 6-0 as the Giants would take 14 shots in the frame. Burke continued to stand tall for EC as she added eight more saves to her total. The fourth quarter would go scoreless despite the Giants being awarded eight penalty corners and taking 11 total shots.
After being named the Empire 8 Defensive Athlete of the Week earlier in the day, Burke turned away 24 shots in the cage for the Purple & Gold and pushed her saves total on the season to 62 through three games.
