ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women's volleyball dropped its Saturday afternoon matchup against the visiting Highlanders from Houghton University, 3-1. After falling behind 2-0 in the match in which the Soaring Eagles lost by just five combined points, Elmira would storm back to take the third frame after an 11-0 advantage to start, before Houghton would take the fourth set and clinch the match.
For the afternoon, Morgan Richardson '25 and Maddie Boucher '24 would pace Elmira in the kill category with 13 and 11, respectively, while Makenna Clark '25 would finish with 9 of EC's 15 service aces. Asia Curkendall '25 would assist Elmira 26 times to go along with ten digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Highlanders would take an early 1-0 lead in the match after picking up a 25-22 victory. In the frame, the Soaring Eagles would control a 22-17 lead before Houghton scored the final eight points of the frame with Katie Naprawa at the service position. In the frame, EC would hit a match-high .333%, notching eight kills.
- In the second, it would once again be Elmira controlling the lead at 21-20 in the late-going before Houghton scored five of the final seven points to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
- In the third frame, Elmira would rally back to take an early 11-0 advantage with Clark at the service position. The early lead was too much for the Highlanders to overcome, as Elmira went on to take the frame 25-9. In the set, Clark would record five of her nine service aces.
- In the fourth, it would be Houghton who got out to an early 5-1 lead, and they would eventually take the set 25-17 after using eight kills from the floor.
