Mackenzie Malone '27 tallied her first collegiate goal as the Elmira College field hockey program dropped a 9-1 decision on Wednesday against Houghton University.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Houghton would bring a barrage on offense in the opening frame as the Highlanders tallied six goals on 15 shots.
- Elmira goalkeeper MeganRae Burke '24 registered six saves in the opening frame and four more in the second quarter for the Soaring Eagles.
- Just 29 seconds into the start of the third quarter, the Soaring Eagles would get their first penalty corner. The opportunity would eventually lead to Malone finding the back of the cage off an assist from Caitlin Ehlenfield '27.
- Malone notched a pair of defensive saves in the contest for the Soaring Eagles, with one coming in the opening frame and the other in the third quarter.
- In the cage for Elmira, Burke finished with 14 saves through 47:34 of playing time. Sandra Vaughn '27 would take over for the Soaring Eagles in the fourth quarter and registered three saves through 12:26 of playing time.
